Roger H. Chaffee

Roger H. Chaffee served in the United States Navy beginning in November 1944. His duties included serving on the USS Hornet CV12 Aircraft Carrier in the South Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II, and later being stationed in US Samoa. Chaffee was discharged from active duty in December 1949 but continued to serve in the naval reserve. In December 1950, he was called back to active duty for the Korean War and stationed in Atlantic Fleet HQ in Norfolk, Virginia. He completed his service and was discharged in December 1952.

Following his military career, Chaffee dedicated himself to public service and served as a member of the Planning Board and a two-term Town Councilman for the Town of Clarence. He was also a valued life member of the Clarence Volunteer Fire Company.
